🌟 Dream Trip Planner

Dream Trip Goal Planning Feature (Premium Only) NEW FEATURE

Launched the Dream Trip Planner - a premium-only feature for aspirational travel planning. Users can set long-term travel goals (e.g., LHR → SYD Upper Class), view pricing with two options (best price with voucher vs points-only baseline), track progress with a visual progress bar showing percentage complete (e.g., "68% - need 50,000 more Virgin Points"), calculate shortfall, estimate time to goal based on monthly earn rate, and access partner earning guides. Perfect for planning trips that might be months or years away.

📚 Documentation Enhancements

Ranking Example Page with Worked Calculations NEW PAGE

Added a new /ranking-example page showing a real worked example of how VALUE_FIRST preset ranks 8 Premium Economy routes from London. Each route card displays all three scoring components (Miles/Pt, Fees penalty, PPP) with their individual scores and total composite score. Includes detailed breakdown for SFO, ORD, MIA, DOH, DEL, JFK, DXB, and BOS with final ranking and key insights. Linked from How It Works page for easy access.

How It Works: Suggestions Section Restructure IMPROVED

Restructured the Suggestions section to explain what the tool does first, then cover ranking methodology as a subsection. Added comprehensive "What Suggestions Does" list covering route scanning, wallet filtering, voucher calculations, scoring/ranking, result splitting into Top 5/Top 3, and deep links. Includes clickable reference to Top 5/Top 3 section for better navigation.

Detailed Ranking Workings in Logs IMPROVED

Enhanced backend logging to show complete ranking calculations for every suggestion search. Logs now display preset weights, individual route scores (Miles/Pt, Fees, PPP), component breakdowns, total scores, and final ranking order. Developers can now see exactly why one route ranks higher than another for debugging and transparency.

🧪 Testing Infrastructure

VS Voucher Cap Testing Scenarios NEW TESTS

Added Test 9 (VS Red status 75k cap validation on LHR → LAX round-trip) and Test 10 (VS Gold status 150k cap validation on LHR → SYD round-trip) to the Testing Hub. These scenarios validate that Virgin Atlantic companion voucher caps are correctly enforced at different status tiers, ensuring users see accurate savings when booking high-value redemptions.

🎨 UI/UX Updates

Logo in Top Right Corner (All Pages) IMPROVED

Moved the Points & Vouchers logo to the top right corner of every page, providing consistent branding across both full navigation (home, suggestions, planner) and simple navigation (how-it-works, testing, ranking-example) layouts. Logo is 50px height with rounded corners for a clean, professional appearance.

Maintenance Banner & Beta Countdown Updates IMPROVED

Updated maintenance notice to "App will be down each day 9-10pm for scheduled maintenance" for clarity. Redesigned beta countdown banner to show "Beta Testing Ends Soon!" with countdown to October 31st, 2025 at 11pm, replacing the original launch countdown. Encourages users to make the most of unlimited testing while it lasts.

💳 Points Only Mode

Points Only Toggle Feature NEW FEATURE

Added a new Points Only Mode toggle prominently displayed at the top of both Suggestions and Planner pages. Users can now easily switch between "Vouchers" (default - shows pricing with voucher discounts applied) and "Points Only" (shows pure points pricing without any voucher discounts). This feature is perfect for comparing redemption values or planning trips where you want to save your valuable vouchers for another journey. The toggle is clearly visible and easy to use, with the "Vouchers" option set as default.

🎨 UI Improvements

Routes Page Navigation Redesign IMPROVED

Replaced the dropdown navigation system with a dedicated Routes page featuring a clean card-based layout. The new design matches the admin dashboard aesthetics with two airline route cards (Virgin Atlantic Routes and British Airways Routes) for easy access. The Routes link is now prominently displayed in the main navigation bar, making it easier to discover and access airline pricing tables.

🎟️ Voucher Display Enhancements

BA Companion Voucher Card Mapping Fix CRITICAL

Fixed a critical bug where BA Amex Premium Plus Companion Vouchers ("amex_pp" card value) were not being recognized by the system. They were treated as invalid, preventing users from seeing any cabin options including Business class. This fix restores full functionality: Premium Plus cardholders can now use their vouchers on any cabin (Economy, Premium Economy, Business) for 24-month validity.

Voucher Savings Percentage Display HIGH

New Feature: All voucher results in Suggestions now show the exact savings in both points and percentage. Examples: "Saves 100,000 pts (50%)" for BA Companion 2-for-1, "Saves 40,000 pts (50%)" for Virgin Companion. This makes it instantly clear how much value you're getting from each voucher.

Virgin Cap Usage Tracking Display HIGH

New Feature: Virgin Atlantic voucher results now display cap usage percentage alongside savings. Example: "Used 26% of cap (40,000 of 150,000)" shows how much of your status-based cap you're using on this booking. This helps you understand if you're maximizing your voucher's potential on high-value routes. Only displayed for Virgin vouchers (BA has no cap limits).

Cache Busting for JavaScript Updates MEDIUM

Added version parameter to JavaScript file loading (app.js?v=20251014) to force browser refresh when code updates are deployed. Ensures users always see the latest UI improvements without manual cache clearing.

🛠️ Planner Fixes

Planner Virgin Voucher Display Bug Fixed CRITICAL

Fixed a critical bug where Virgin vouchers in the Journey Planner showed the same cost in both "Without Voucher" and "With Voucher" columns. The root cause was that baseline costs were calculated AFTER voucher discounts were already applied to the leg pricing, resulting in both columns showing the discounted value. Solution: Added baseline tracking fields (`base_points`, `base_fees_gbp`) to store original pricing before voucher application. Now displays correctly: 55k pts → 27.5k pts (50% savings).

iPhone Mobile Keyboard Auto-Scroll (All Pages) MEDIUM

Added automatic scroll-to-input behavior when tapping on form fields across Wallet, Suggestions, and Journey Planner pages. When the keyboard appears on mobile, the page automatically scrolls (with 300ms delay for keyboard animation) to keep the active input field visible. Note: iOS Safari's viewport behavior may still occasionally hide fields depending on form position - if this happens, manually scroll down after the keyboard appears.

🔒 Security & Data Integrity

Wallet Isolation Bug Fix CRITICAL

Fixed a critical security issue where user wallet saves were overwriting each other. Each user's wallet data is now completely isolated and secure. When you save your wallet (points, vouchers, status), it only updates YOUR account—not other users' accounts.

🎁 Promotional Features

Promotional Period: Unlimited Access (Oct 17-31, 2025) HIGH

New Feature: ALL users (Basic and Premium) will get unlimited access during our promotional period from October 17-31, 2025. This includes unlimited suggestions, unlimited planner queries, and 5 results per search. Perfect time to explore all features!

Suggestions Display Bug Fix CRITICAL

Fixed a critical bug where all route suggestions displayed "0 pts + £0.00" instead of actual pricing. The backend was sending data with field names the frontend didn't recognize. Added proper data translation layer so pricing, distance, and voucher savings now display correctly. Production deployment required.

Virgin Atlantic Pricing Description Update LOW

Updated pricing mode description to clarify that "Median" shows "12 mth median Avg" instead of "Current app prices" for better transparency about how Virgin Atlantic award pricing is calculated.

Promotional Lifetime Premium Access MEDIUM

Admin Feature: Admins can now grant permanent Premium access to users for promotional or marketing purposes. Users with promotional lifetime premium receive unlimited access without needing a Stripe subscription.

💎 Virgin Atlantic Enhancements

Virgin Atlantic Pricing Mode Toggle HIGH

New Feature: You can now choose between two pricing modes for Virgin Atlantic routes: Median Cost (typical price across the year) or Best Price Seen (lowest verified fare). Switch between modes in Suggestions and Planner to match your planning strategy.

Updated Virgin Atlantic Route Pricing MEDIUM

Improvement: Refreshed all Virgin Atlantic route prices with the latest data sampled from multiple travel dates. Prices now more accurately reflect current Virgin Points redemption costs across different seasons.

New Virgin Atlantic Routes MEDIUM

Expansion: Added three new Virgin Atlantic destinations: Mumbai (BOM), Cape Town (CPT), and Cancún (CUN). You can now search and plan for these popular routes.

Removed Discontinued Route LOW

Route Update: Removed Austin (AUS) from Virgin Atlantic routes as this route is no longer available for redemption bookings.

✈️ British Airways Enhancements

Short-Haul Cabin Display MEDIUM

Clarity: BA short-haul routes (like London-Paris) now display "N/A" for First and Club World cabins instead of showing unavailable options. Makes it clearer which cabin classes are actually available on each route.

Peak/Off-Peak Calendar Link MEDIUM

Feature: Added a direct link to the BA Reward Flight Saver calendar on the BA routes page. Click the link to see which dates count as peak or off-peak for pricing.

Voucher Eligibility Clarifications MEDIUM

Transparency: Improved messaging around which British Airways vouchers work with which routes. The app now clearly indicates when companion or upgrade vouchers can be applied.

"LON" Airport Meta-Code HIGH

New Feature: You can now search for "LON" to see all 5 London airports at once (Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Stansted, Luton). Perfect for finding the best redemption options across London's airport system.

Wording: Updated pricing labels to make it clearer when costs shown are per person per direction vs total round-trip costs. No more confusion about what the numbers mean.

Dynamic Pricing Notice LOW

Transparency: Added notices explaining that Virgin Atlantic uses dynamic pricing and the costs shown are based on recent sampling. Helps users understand why prices may vary when they book.

iPhone Layout Fix HIGH

Mobile Fix: Fixed text wrapping issues on iPhone displays. Route tables and suggestion cards now display properly on all mobile devices without awkward line breaks or overflow.
